Safety & Legal Guidelines

At the All Pakistan Kites Flying Association (APKFA), we believe that kite flying should be safe, responsible, and lawful for everyone. While this centuries-old tradition brings joy, unity, and cultural pride, it's essential to follow proper safety and legal standards to protect lives and preserve our heritage for future generations.

🛡 Our Commitment to Safety

Kite flying is a fun and festive activity—but only when done responsibly. Over the years, misuse of certain materials and unsafe practices have led to accidents and injuries. APKFA is fully committed to promoting safe flying practices by educating the public and enforcing strict safety protocols.

Here’s how you can fly responsibly:

  • Use Safe String: Only fly kites with cotton or biodegradable thread. Avoid using metal wire, glass-coated string (manjha), or any sharp material that can harm people, birds, or power lines.

  • Avoid Crowded Areas: Fly in open, designated spaces—never near roads, electric poles, or densely populated rooftops.

  • Stay Alert: Always watch your surroundings while flying. Children should always be supervised by adults.

  • Protective Gear: If flying from rooftops, install proper fencing and never lean over edges. Wear gloves to prevent string burns.

  • Respect Flying Hours: Follow the permitted timings for kite flying, especially during events approved by local authorities.

âš– Legal Compliance

APKFA fully supports the government’s regulations on kite flying and advocates for legal revival under safe, supervised conditions. We are registered with the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and actively engage with provincial authorities to ensure all our events comply with current laws.

Key legal considerations include:

  • Government Permissions: All kite flying events organized by APKFA are officially approved and monitored for public safety.

  • Restricted Materials: Use of illegal string types (metallic, chemical-coated) is strictly prohibited.

  • Designated Zones & Timings: We work with city administrations to define safe kite flying zones and time slots to avoid disruptions or hazards.

  • Membership Accountability: All APKFA members agree to follow legal guidelines as a condition of participation.

🤝 Help Us Keep It Safe

Our mission is to revive Pakistan’s kite flying culture responsibly. We urge all enthusiasts to fly within the bounds of safety and legality. By following the rules, we can work together to lift the bans, protect our communities, and bring Basant back as a regulated, joyous festival.

Fly safe. Fly legal. Keep the skies alive with color—not danger.
